The Averrhoa Tree

I am playing, picking handfuls of
jade tears fallen from  faces of ghosts
swept by monsoon floods dried by summer's end.

In my absence its leaves withered as
lactating white sap unfurled sculptures of amber,
Worshipped by ants whose voices praise:

Those soured hours of stewed hearts
sweetened to raisins in a jam jar
--Night falls behind the shadows.
